- set a forwarding address for when you are at another e-mail address
- have a message automatically sent to people who write to you, letting them know you are away from your e-mail
- First, read this page completely.
- Then click "Printer-friendly version" (at the bottom of this page) and print.
- Finally, return to the Mail Utilities page and follow the directions you have printed. (The Mail Utilities page is the one which brought you here.)
When you click the Change Mailbox Settings link (on the Mail Utilities page), you will go to a window like the following one
- Enter your account (login) name. That is the name which appears in your e-mail address before the @elct.or.tz
- Enter your password
- Click the Submit button.
If you are not yet registered, you will get the following error screen:
If you see the above window, close the browser and write to webmaster@elct.or.tz. Ask to have your mail account registered for the mail utilities.
If you login successfully, you will see the following window:
This window offers you two options: Mail Forwarding and Autoreply Message. Mail Forwarding automatically sends your mail to another address while you are travelling. Autoreply Message automatically sends a message to people who write to you, letting them know you are away from your e-mail.
You probably do not want to do both of these things. If you have your mail forwarded so that you can receive it, there is no need to have an autoreply message sent.
Mail Forwarding
If you want to have your e-mail automatically forwarded to another address while you are travelling, then fill in the "Forward" section as follows:
If you leave "Keep messages" set at "no," then messages will be deleted from the habari server when they are sent to your forwarding address. If you set "Keep messages" to "yes," then your messages will not only be forwarded but will also be kept on the server for you for when you return.
When you return, be sure to enter the Mailbox Settings utility again and turn off the Forward mailbox, or else your mail will continue to be forwarded.
Autoreply Message
If you want to have a message sent automatically to everyone who writes to you, letting them know you are not temporarily not able to receive and answer their e-mail, then fill out the second part of the Change Your Mailbox Settings page in a way similar to the following:
Again, when you return from your travels, be sure to enter this Mailbox Settings utility again and turn off this feature. If you do not, it will continue to send out this Autoreply message to all of your e-mail.
