Changing Your Mailbox Settings

Back

  • Go to http://www.makumira.ac.tz/mailutilities/
  • Click on the Change Mailbox Settings link.
  • Enter your account (login) name. That is the name which appears in your e-mail address before the @elct.or.tz
  • Enter your password
  • Click the Submit button.

Mail Forwarding

If you want to have your e-mail automatically forwarded to another address while you are travelling, then fill in the "Forward" section as follows:

Forward mailbox: yes
Forward to: name@newaddress.com
Keep messages: no

If you leave "Keep messages" set at "no," then messages will be deleted from the habari server when they are sent to your forwarding address. If you set "Keep messages" to "yes," then your messages will not only be forwarded but will also be kept on the server for you for when you return.

When you return, be sure to enter the Mailbox Settings utility again and turn off the Forward mailbox, or else your mail will continue to be forwarded.

Autoreply Message

If you want to have a message sent automatically to everyone who writes to you, letting them know you are not temporarily not able to receive and answer their e-mail, then fill out the second part of the Change Your Mailbox Settings page in a way similar to the following:

Enable autoReply: yes
Autoreply message: I am temporarily away . . .

When you return from your travels, be sure to enter this Mailbox Settings utility again and turn off this feature. If you do not, it will continue to send out this Autoreply message to all of your e-mail.
